Week 5 – Hey I have an Opinion about that!

Wow!  I suppose I should say something about the week 5 of the Master Key System but this exercise for our #MKE (Master Key Experience) is just too mind blowing.

Here it is in a nutshell, Have no Opinion.

That’s it! When I want to say something I have to stop myself and “Shut the TShut upwinkie hole” as Mark J says. I must not give my opinion at all. Now for me that is especially difficult because I lecture and give my opinion for a living, which kinda overflows into my regular interactions with people on a daily basis if you know what I mean

I really didn’t know that I was so full of …..Opinions!

Opinionated or not, The objective is to become an observer of the world and of myself.

Someone crossing the road, jaywalking slowly and oblivious to the world around them staring intently into their phone, My mind starts babbling opinions about this person. The car in front of me stops and crosses 2 lanes to u turn into a parking space, oh you bet I have an opinion on them – loudly even! My wife is watching TV as I sit in the room fixing her computer for her. Man do I have an opinion about what she is watching and what is on television in general. I KEEP THE TWINKIE HOLE SHUT!

my opinion is factThen I laugh wow I have an opinion on everything and everyone 24/7 and all 1,440 minutes a day!  I Use the law of observation and detach myself from the scene looking in as an outside observer of events.

Let’s master mind here,  I eat some Ice Cream (yay! I like Ice Cream) I say or think This is good ice cream. Is this an opinion or a statement of fact?

If I say this is the best chocolate ice cream in the west then I have stated an opinion. (even if I think its a fact)

(Ok, so yes what I may be thinking about the j-walker and the lane crosser may be a fact in my mind ….. but its still an opinion.)

Result? Its a Miracle!

Stress levels go down, Heart rate normal, I am no longer involved, no longer part of or attached to the end result, no longer affected at all. I simply observe.

– Hm that person crossed 2 lanes of traffic for a parking spot, almost got hit by oncoming traffic; that person is walking across the street intent on his phone and not using the crosswalk; my wife is watching mindless trash and… oops sorry, I mean, my wife is being entertained at the moment- all statements of fact. But I do not have an opinion either way, I do not inject my personal belief or feeling into the situation and therefore have no stake in it.

Jim Rohn used to say “Don’t ask why is this the way it is, That is a waste of time and effort. Instead just be curious and say Hmm, isn’t that interesting? That some people do that.” and get on with your life. Good advice! No, that’s an opinion, better; I think that is good advice for me to follow.

To be aware of your thoughts and dissect where they come from is awesome! Being rigorous with your thinking and your speech will change your life! This exercise is priceless because it teaches me to be rigorous with my thoughts, with my speech, and makes me think before I open my …. You guessed it TWINKIE HOLE!

Week 4 – The Abundance of Giving

zig_ziglar_help_enoughWould you like to have abundance in your life? More money, power, love? If you act from scarcity then you will try to protect what you have so as not to lose it. This is a selfish mentality and creates more lack in your life. You are actually turning off the spigot of the natural abundance that life has to offer when you do this. In this week of the Master Keys mastermind experience Haanel writes “We cannot give unless we get” Wow! now that sounds selfish and contradictory doesn’t it? but Think about it, doesn’t the strong man help to make a weak man become strong? Does the pauper feed the needy?  Haanel suggests that “We can not be helpful unless we are strong”

Picture one of those games shows where a person is put in a booth and then money is poured in and a turbine turned on. The person is told to see how many bills they can grab hold of before the time is up. Cool, wouldn’t you like to do that!? Now here is the catch, if you close your fist on a bill you can not grab hold of anymore, if you open your hand you will lose the one in it! My mother tried to teach me this when I was very young she told me to hold onto a dollar bill, one in both hands, and not to lose it. Then she dumped a bag full of dollars over me (same principle as the wind booth!) she told me that if my hands are closed because of fear of losing what I had then they never would be open for what more may come.

If we are busy with the busyness of life and do not take the time to truly serve others then we miss out on the abundance that is there for us. For we always get back many times what we put out in service. This is the secret of the universe. Abundance is the natural way of life, life is abundant in its gifts to us.

We are born into abundance and yet we Seem to choose to live in lack and scarcity.  Think about it, if we plant corn we do not get ‘A’ Corn but bushels of corn! My friend has a guava tree and gets so many guava fruit she is passing them out to everyone all the time – abundance!

God gives us all we need and abundantly more. However we have to do our part and serve. We serve by planting the seed, providing the help, giving our time and effort. “The More we give the more we shall get; we must become a channel whereby the Universal can express activity.” 4-21 Master Keys – Haanel

If you feel sad and alone the best thing you can do is go to a shelter or nursing home and help make someone else feel better. You will become better too! Have you ever noticed that the best way to solve any problem you have is to go find someone else with the same or similar problem and help them solve it and miraculously your problems are solved too!

So do not close your hand, do not stop the flow. Give of yourself, be of service and help as many as you can get what they want. Life will return to you more benefit and success than you can even imagine. Scarcity and lack are mental constructs not reality. Take control of your mind, be still, and seek inspiration to serve then watch the harvest roll in. AWESOME!

Week 3 – We Create Our Own Cirumstances

brian-tracy-it-doesnt-matter-where-you-came-from-quoteHello again and welcome to my inner mind. Please keep hands and feet inside the car at all times and be sure to observe all safety rules as this is one Wild Ride!

Week 2 was interesting in that I am learning new skills, relearning some old skills and busting down some barriers to learning. The number one thing to break through of course is Ego, lay it down, stop trying to make me right, stop the effort of making things look the way I want them. Just allow the process to deconstruct and reconstruct and build the enlightenment understanding for me. It is much like my golf swing, if I fight for control and power its off I go for a long walk searching for a lost ball. If I relax and allow the club to do the work and swing in harmony with the mechanics of nature boom ‘nice shot’ and I get to enjoy the game. The major barriers to learning anything is the statement “Oh I know that” or “yeah I heard or read about that before” the simple answer is ‘Oh really then you are now perfect!?’

Week 3 has begun so abruptly and going so fast for me it is amazing. I am getting so clear on my ‘Definite Major Purpose’ and rewriting it over and over is no longer a chore but a joy! I am rewriting my future history here and the more I become clear and precise the more enthusiastic and energized I become. Before it was an exercise in writing out goals and wants but now it is so much more than that, it is me becoming the me that I already am!  Knocking off all the dirt and cement and camouflage I have plastered over myself to protect me from realizing and being my true self.

Marianne Williamson said it best in the quote “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.” I am beginning to see this vividly now.

From Haanel, Part 3: “You have found that the individual may act on the Universal, and that the result of this action and iteraction is cause and effect. Thought, Therefore is the cause, and the experiences with which you meet in life are the effect.”

As George Bernard Shaw so eloquently put it – “People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them.” So Powerful, So true!

We are living the life we have created in our own mind. So, again as Haanel writes, “Eliminate, therefore, any possible tendency to complain of conditions as they have been, or as they are, because it rests with you to change them and make them what you would like them to be!”

Your life is as you make it and the world you greet is a reflection of you. Like the story of the fella working in the country store when a passerby walked in and asked “What kind of people you got livin around here abouts?” “Well, What kind a people are you used to where you come from?” returned the store keeper. “Oh they are the meanest, stubbornest nosy bunch of pains in my backside you ever did meet!” The store keeper thought for awhile then replied “Well sir, I suppose that just about describes the kind of folks you are going to meet in these parts too” so with that the traveler said “yeah I thought so, I’ll keep going then.” I guess you get the moral of the story by now! As Anais Nin said “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.”

Week 2 – The Habit of Thought

“We become what we think about” – Earl Nightingale, the Strangest Secret

Marcus Aurelius, the great Roman Emperor said: “A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it.”

and Ralph Waldo Emerson, “A man is what he thinks about all day long.”

What do you think about all day long? More importantly why? I am not talking about what you have to do at the moment or your next appointment but rather what is in your head just below cognitive awareness? Some call it the little voices, worries of things that may or may not happen, stressing on something that you really have no control over anyway. These are the thought habits that we do not pay attention to and can cause us the most damage because this is what we think about all day long.

This week as we go deeper into The Master Key System I am fascinated and thrilled at what I am beginning to understand. We can change how we think at the subconscious level and thereby create our life anew with purpose and direction of our own choosing! Now I can relate directly to what Marcus Aurelius said and focus my mind so that “My life is what my thoughts make it!” This is exciting but takes work.  I have old habits, habits of thought and action that must be reviewed, assessed, and rebuilt.

Here is a passage that struck me: – The subconscious mind cannot argue controversially. Hence, if it has accepted wrong suggestions, then the sure method of overcoming them is by the use of a strong counter suggestion, frequently repeated, which the mind must accept, thus forming a new and healthy habit of thought and life, for the subconscious mind is the seat of habit.-

The Subconscious mind is the seat of HABIT! And it is our thinking that makes it so. That’s what I mean by the Habit of Thought. But there is more:

-That which we do over and over becomes mechanical; it is no longer an act of judgement, but has worn its deep grooves in the subconscious mind. This is favorable for us if the habit be wholesome and right… –

So, What do you think about most? What is on your mind? Check in with yourself and see if you are worried about money, grades, health, creating negative futures by worrying about things that have not happened yet and may not happen at all.

A thing is neither good nor bad but that our thoughts make it so (forgive me as I paraphrase and/or miss quote Shakespeare here).

Habit can make or break you. If you have a bad habit like smoking, or eating junk, or drinking too much. Most of the time you know it and think about how to change like new years resolutions and such. But what of habits you are not aware of? These are habits of thought. These are why we react or take certain actions over others. Our Habitual way of thinking has created belief patterns and paradigms that dictate how we act WITHOUT THINKING! We just do it because “That’s the way I am” or “Oh, I just seem to always do that”

Isn’t it nice to know that we can break the habit and create a new paradigm! Now go and Think on purpose, focus your thoughts to create the life you want and as Earl Nightingale said “Become what you Think about!”
