While in my sit after reading part 17 of Haanel’s Master Key System this evening I had a very interesting vision/thought. The Goal I have set my sights on is a symbol of power not the reality! In line 28 Haanel states: “You may be pursuing fame instead of honor, riches instead of wealth, position instead of servitude; in either event you will find that they turn to ashes just as you overtake them.”
I think I Just figured out why goals of money are not working for me. I can’t get excited about money I can’t generate intense emotion over paper. But I can see a family go from struggle to secure, from desperation to excitement and joy. I have a vision of a family, I see their 2 boys cross the stage in little suits with cute bow ties and polished shoes, a family that was unsure if they would need to move in with friends to make ends meet just a year earlier. Wow! My true goal is to use my talents to mentor and empower people to success.
The goal is not the $1,000,000 a year income. Not the Status, not the award, not the achievement. These are the symbols of an achievement met. Results of a reality called service
The goal is in using my gifts to help others realize their talents and gifts to satisfy their needs. In my business of financial services, for example, my goal is to help as many families become financially secure and independent as possible. In my business my goal is to use my talents to mentor and empower associates to become self sufficient and ultimately wealthy.
If I lead, empower, and mentor X number of people to reach their goal of a 6 figure income, and help them build teams doing Y in production each month, then I am assured of generating over a million dollar a year income. That is the end result. Thus my goal is not the end result, the end result is simply the manifestation of having served the number of people necessary. My focus therefore is on the service and the goal of the number of people served.
The very interesting thing of this focus is that I can focus on people and service. I can be come excited and passionate about people! I can visualize the outcome of service. I can not focus on money because money does not really exist. Money is a symbol, the manifestation of perceived value it is not substance. People are! So there I have it, in pursuing the symbol I am left with ashes, but in pursuing the spirit, the true goal, I can achieve beyond my dreams!
Oh my!
Enjoy Life!

Thank’s Dominica, keep sparkling!
Beautiful recognition on where you need to focus and a great reminder for me. Not as much with money but with my physical appearance. I am still focused on how much weight I want to lose and I need to shift it to how I will feel in my body once it is gone.
Thanks!
That’s right Nancy, What you focus on you will grow bigger! Focus on health, vitality, strength and make those grow bigger in your mind. My personal health vision is “I am 180lbs with a 34″ waist, and at 17% body fat ratio. I am enthusiastically alive and full of vitality.” of course with a date and a color and a shape! 😉
Enjoy!
